Naturopathic Medicine is a distinctively natural approach to health and healing that recognizes the integrity of the whole person. The practice of Naturopathic Medicine emerges from six underlying principles of healing. These principles are based on the objective observation of the nature of health and disease, and are continually reexamined in light of scientific analysis. It is these principles that distinguish the profession from other medical approaches: The healing power of nature; Identify and treat the cause; First do no harm; Treat the whole person; The physician as teacher; and Prevention is the best "cure"

The Healing Power of Nature

The body has the inherent ability to establish, maintain, and restore health. The best healing therapy is the one that supports and strengthens the immune system to more efficiently do its job; a healing therapy which alleviates unnecessary concerns and stress factors from the immune system.

Naturopathic Medicine is such a healing therapy. Natural, non-toxic, and non-invasive remedies are the tools of the Naturopathic Doctor. When properly utilized nutritional supplements have minimal side effects and maximum efficacy. The use of Foods, Enzyme Supplements, Colors, Essential Oils, Environmental Atmosphere, Minerals, Vitamins, and Western Herbs aid in the support of the body’s own healing mechanism and processes.

Naturopathic Medicine’s main function is to strengthen the body’s ability to eliminate toxic substances that put a stress on the body and its immune system, and to supply it with natural and nutritional substances that will strengthen and better equip the immune system to do its job. The immune system consists of living organisms that act like little soldiers patrolling the body. Naturopathic Medicine’s aim is to support these little soldiers so that they can be energetic, resilient, non-stressed, and intelligent. With a stronger and healthier immune system, we have better chances to prevent and heal from today’s diseases. Naturopathic Medicine helps us to heal from within.

Processed, over-cooked, and reheated food has lost most of its nutritional value and when ingested, is more burdensome than beneficial for the human system. Organic raw fruits and vegetables can help compensate for this incurred nutritional loss.

In addition to supporting the body nutritionally, herbs and natural foods help sustain the energetic structure of the human system. It is the energetic structure that governs the physical processes of the body and is in itself the body’s programming. Frequently, the programming of the body breaks down due to external stress put onto the human    system. This can lead to an inability of the body to perform certain activities. The immune system may not work as efficiently, the kidneys may not regulate the mineral content of the blood properly, the body may receive an insufficient amount of hormonal stimulation or inhibition, and so on. The energetic structure of natural foods is very similar to that of the human system and can therefore aid the body in repairing its own programming.

There are certain herbs and natural foods that are more beneficial while suffering from a specific health condition. Proper food choices and the use of well chosen herbs have proved extremely effective in supporting the body during its healing process. Science has already verified the traditional use of a large number of herbs in relation to various ailments. Natural substances support the body’s own healing powers, thus leaving the body stronger and healthier after their effect. They work in accordance with the body’s own dynamic forces enabling the body to more efficiently battle entropy and prevent degeneration that can lead to disease.
